SYZYGY TABLEBASE DOESNT WORK!!

Post by psycotrance on Wed Aug 19, 2015 2:12 pm

Hi dear chess friends, i tested the syzygy tablebases to ensure if it works.

I found this example on google:

Ok so i setup this position in Fritz GUI, fired the engine to look for a mate.

If i have the nalimov active, engine sees the mate in #96 moves automatically without having to think.

But then i changed the path name of nalimov tablebases (as i do not have them) and configured the engine to work with SYZYGY ONLY.

When i fired the engine (in same position) to look for the mate then engine does not see the mate anymore. Instead, engine says is a draw 0.00 !

Please do you the same as me and you will see that syzygy doenst find the mate!

I already suspected that. I did "some tests" and it seems that it is true that not work. I wonder if anyone else had a problem with that. Neutral

If you are using Stockfish Engine and Chessbase GUI (eg) Deep Fritz 13, set the path for syzygy tablebases in the engine UCI Not your GUI. "Also be aware you cannot run two types of tablebases at the same time". Hope this helps sunny
